The effect of ultrasound for algae growth control on zooplankton

چکیده
The use of ultrasound (US) to control algal growth in natural water bodies raises concern about the undesirable effects US on non-target organisms. In this study a lab-scale experiment was performed evaluate low-power counteract adult and juvenile Daphnia magna. 48-hour conducted 200 L glass aquarium with three fish nets, each filled five D. Each net inspected for immobilized magna different times during ultrasonication; additionally, basic physical-chemical parameters were measured. results showed that tested device had no acute effect mobility or magna, since after 48 h ultrasonication 87% 82% organisms remained mobile, same higher percentage mobile groups. Additionally, statistically significant noticed measured physico-chemical parameters. However, when applied algae field conditions, is operation constantly at least long period time (several weeks months); therefore, long-term exposure zooplankton should be ensure devices are safe zooplankton.

A negative consequence of biodiversity loss is reduced rates of ecosystem functions. Phylogenetic-based biodiversity indices have been claimed to provide more accurate predictions of ecosystem functioning than species diversity alone. This approach assumes that the most relevant traits for ecosystem functioning present a phylogenetic signal. Yet, traits-mediating niche partitioning and resource...
